Brighton Rock

Brighton beachfront is the heart of this buzzing seaside city and has undergone a transformation in the last decade. It stretches from west from Brighton Pier, with its bumper cars and Victorian games to Hove Lagoon, or east (parallel with the Volks Railway), all the way to the Marina!

Veteran Car Run

Nov 2005 (annual)
The Veteran Car Run celebrates a red-letter day in the history of British motoring: the "Emancipation Run" from London to Brighton celebrated the passing of the Locomotives on the Highway Act. This raised the speed limit for "light locomotives" and abolished the requirement to be preceded by a man on foot. The event is not a race, the cars are limited to an average speed of 20 mph and the only reward for a successful run is a Finisher's Medal (awarded to all who reach Brighton before 4.30pm)

Every September, the National Speed Trials fill every inch of Madeira Drive, a short distance from Brighton Pier. All types of vehicles take part, including cars and motorbikes, both old and modern
